Pain Management Interventions inclusive of Prolotherapy, Neuroprolotherapy and other injection therapeutics

Clinical research is being continually conducted worldwide to help determine which interventional pain management techniques are the most effective in treating musculoskeletal and neuromusculoskeletal disorders – particularly of the spine, large joints and extremities. Clinically substantiated and published interventional techniques are used by Dr. Massumi to expedite pain control and disease recovery in patients.

Techniques may utilize anti-inflammatory substances ( e.g. Cortisone). Alternatively they may be with pro-inflammatory compounds which help heal tissues or provide sensorineural pain control ( e.g. Prolotherapy or Neural Prolotherapy). They may also be based on a patient’s own blood products ( e.g. Platelet Rich Plasma – PRP).

Pharmaceutical research labs and manufacturers as well as government and private research entities are continuously contributing to the wealth of knowledge in Orthobiologics ( the field of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular tissue therapeutics). As these interventional therapeutic protocols and compounds achieve acceptance and /or approvals in the world of medicine they may also be offered as services by Dr. Massumi.

Dr. Massumi has been providing Physiatry (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) and Pain Management services since 1988 in Maryland - with particular interest in orthopedic medicine and the management of chronic musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders.
